JACEENA FAITH SHEPARD

The most essential aspect of my art is that I paint what inspires me. That inspiration comes from my God, who supplies the talent. Although I use traditionally taught techniques, I refine and hone those techniques through hours of experimentation. I love tell stories through my paintings because it provides an emotional response for those who view them. Whatever the emotional response, it is so rewarding to share that great moment with another art lover. My goal as an artist is to paint every day of my remaining life. I don’t want to just decorate walls; I yearn to evoke emotion, warmth and enthusiasm in the viewer. I invite each viewer to take a closer look at my paintings and let them speak to you in a special way.

Early in life Jaceena Shepard’s career desire was to follow her artistic heritage but economics dictated pursuit of a career in the science and business world. She did, however, remain
committed to the arts and after retiring from a successful career in the Missile and Space business, she is now involved in painting full time at her home studio. Taught by her
Artist/Teacher Mother, she paints mostly in acrylic and watercolor but uses oil to paint her contemporary and vintage portraits. She makes the most of watercolors fresh, vibrant
nature through light, color, and contrast and mixes them with her exciting compositions to create dynamic paintings. She creates three-dimensional depth and realism in her watercolor
paintings by using the basic rules of perspective and tonal values. Jaceena retired as a US Government Senior Manager in the Missile and Space Programs; she also owned a
Business Management Consulting Firm. She holds a MS in Business Management. She owns “Your Arts Desire” Studio/Gallery. Jaceena is an accomplished artist whose paintings are in collections across the United States. Her artwork is the result of extensive training and years of professional experience. She continues to attend professional watercolor workshops and teaches both privately and at workshops. She exhibits at Juried Fine Art and Museum Exhibitions and has received several National awards. Jaceena is currently serving as the 2014-2015 President of the Watercolor Society of Alabama.
